Screening For Plagiarism Policy
Multiverse Journal maintains a strict policy against plagiarism. Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a rigorous screening process to ensure its originality and integrity before proceeding to the peer-review stage.
1. Plagiarism Detection Tools
• All submitted manuscripts are screened using professional plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate.
• The screening process is conducted by the Editorial Office upon initial submission.
2. Similarity Threshold
• The maximum acceptable similarity index is 20%.
• In addition to the overall similarity score, the editorial team carefully evaluates “string matches.” Manuscripts with high similarity (e.g., more than 5%) from a single source may be flagged for revision, even if the total similarity is below 20%.
3. Types of Plagiarism
The journal considers the following practices unacceptable:
• Direct Plagiarism – Copying text verbatim without proper quotation or attribution.
• Self-Plagiarism – Reusing substantial portions of the author’s previously published work without proper citation.
• Patchwriting – Reproducing phrases or sentences from sources with minor modifications.
• Data Fabrication or Falsification – Manipulating or inventing research data or results.
4. Editorial Actions
Based on the screening results, the Editor may take the following actions:
- Below Threshold – The manuscript proceeds to the peer-review process.
- Minor Overlap – The manuscript is returned to the author for revision and must be resubmitted with a lower similarity index.
- Major Plagiarism – The manuscript is rejected immediately, and the author may be restricted from future submissions.
